Adult roleplay is broader than romance. It is stories that treat you as a grown-up: relationships with real tension, morally grey characters, violence that has weight, horror that does not cut away, grief and desire written honestly.
It also means the story trusts you. Characters can be cruel, tempting or frightening, and the plot does not stop to check whether you can handle it. You steer instead: you decide where a scene goes and when it ends.
Some of the best adult stories are not explicit at all. A mafia arranged marriage, a vampire who owns your new castle or a demon queen who will sell you anything are adult because of what is at stake, not because of how much is described.
The limits that always apply
UnsavedAI is for adults 18 and over. These rules hold in every story, whatever the setting:
- Never minors. No sexual content involving anyone under 18, including fictional characters who are or appear to be under 18, whatever their claimed age.
- Never real people without consent. No sexual content about real, identifiable people who have not agreed to it.
- No credible threats or harassment of real people, and nothing illegal where you live.
We don't read or screen conversations, so you are responsible for what you write.
Writing mature stories well
- Build tension before you pay it off. A slow burn makes the moment matter.
- Keep consent clear inside the story. Characters who check in read as more real, not less.
- Use fades. Cutting to the morning after is a tool, not a cop-out.
- Steer with a short out-of-character note, like "(OOC: let's slow this down and focus on the argument)". See steering with OOC.
- Let dark themes have consequences. Horror and crime stories land when choices cost something.
