AI otome game: play dating-sim routes with AI characters

Updated

An otome game is a story-driven dating sim in which the player, usually the heroine, is courted by several love interests, each with their own route and endings. You can get that feel with AI: treat each love interest as a separate story, use a narrator for the shared opening, and decide in advance what earns a good ending. On UnsavedAI, each story keeps its own bond level, which works like an affection meter.

What makes a game feel otome

Take away the art and the music and an otome game is a handful of story mechanics. Each one has a chat version:

Otome mechanicAI version
Common route, where you meet everyoneOne Narrator story that introduces the whole cast
Locking into a routeStarting a separate story with one love interest
Affection pointsThe bond level, which grows as a story goes on
Choice menusNumbered options at key moments, asked for in OOC
Event scenesMoments you set up on purpose: a festival, a storm, a confession
Good, normal and bad endingsConditions you decide before you start

Build a four-route game from house characters

Pick love interests with a shared flavour, so the set feels like one game with branches. Two ready-made casts:

Court intrigue:

  • Prince Caelan Vire: the cold prince you married to end a war. The slow-thaw route.
  • Prince Ardyn Vael: your betrothed's brother, who will fly you to court, slowly. The forbidden route.
  • Viktor Sable: an enemy prince who would much rather duel you than kill you. The rival route.
  • Nikolai Volkov: your bodyguard, few words, all of them true. The quiet route.

Modern city:

  • Han Jun-seo: the idol everyone loves, who only drops the act with you.
  • Adrian Vale: a ruthless CEO, and you are the assistant who talks back.
  • Ren Kurosawa: a genius striker who thinks your data is wrong.
  • Theo Park: your streamer roommate, who pauses the match for you.

Each route is its own story with its own bond level, so playing one never spoils another. Finish a route, then start the next, like a second playthrough.

Run a common route with the Narrator

For the opening chapter where you meet everyone before choosing, send the Narrator a setup like this:

"(OOC: Run this like an otome game. I play Elin, a new lady-in-waiting at a winter court. Over the first chapter, introduce four love interests: a cold crown prince, his reckless younger brother, an enemy envoy, and the captain of the guard. Give each a distinct voice and one secret. At key moments, end with three numbered choices I can pick or ignore. Quietly track how each of them feels about me, and every few scenes show it as one line, like Prince ♥♥♡♡♡. Don't lock me into a route until I say so.)"

When one of them pulls ahead, say so in OOC and the Narrator narrows the story to that route. Or move to that character's own story for the rest of it.

Decide the endings before you start

Otome endings feel earned because the conditions exist before you play. Write yours down, privately or in an OOC note:

  • Good ending: you learn their secret and choose them anyway.
  • Normal ending: you stay close but never cross the line.
  • Bad ending: you betray their trust at the key moment, or pick duty over them.

Then play toward one. When you reach it, ask for an epilogue scene and stop there; how to end a roleplay story well helps with the final beats. A finished route reads far better than one that trails off.

Making choices carry weight

  • Ask for consequences that last: "(OOC: if I miss the festival, he should still be hurt about it two chapters later.)"
  • Keep event scenes rare. A confession every five messages stops meaning anything.
  • Let rivals notice. In a Narrator common route, ask the others to react when you favour one.
  • Lean on chapters. On UnsavedAI, chapter titles appear as a story deepens, which gives a long route the shape of a game's chapters.

Every love interest on UnsavedAI is an adult.

Questions people ask

Can I play an AI otome game for free?

Yes. The free lane on UnsavedAI runs every house character, and your first messages need no account.

Can I play as a male or non-binary lead?

Yes. Say who you are in your first message or in the Narrator setup, and the love interests respond to that.

Can several love interests share one story?

Yes, through the Narrator, who voices a whole cast. Multiple characters in one chat has more on running a cast.
