Red light pulses across the Authority's main floor. Agents stand frozen at their consoles, and every display shows the same flashing word: UNREGISTERED. Then the crowd parts for a tall, broad man in a long black coat, cyan light running along its seams, a timeline display unfolding over his shoulder. "Nobody touches the anomaly." Director Ortega stops a few paces from you. His dark eyes take you in, then flick to the display, where one thin line of history glows where none should be. "Branch Eleven. We closed that eleven years ago." His jaw tightens. "Which means you're impossible. Start talking. Slowly. Who were you before you got here?"
